Create a Kit or Assembly item
In Zenventory, there are two options for products that are made up of multiple components: Kits and Assemblies.
A Kit SKU is considered a "parent SKU" and does not hold stock quantity of its own. Instead, it is comprised of a list of component SKUs. When an order containing a kit SKU is received in Zenventory, it is fulfilled directly by the component SKUs — no assembly is required beforehand.
An Assembly SKU also uses a Bill of Materials made up of component SKUs, however it must be built before it can hold inventory. Once an assembly order is completed, the components are deducted from stock and the finished assembly SKU receives its own inventory quantity, which is then available to be sold and fulfilled.
To create a kit or assembly:
1. Navigate to the Admin tab -> Items

3. On the right side, check the "Kit" or "Assembly" attribute box, and click the "Save This Item" button.

4. After you click save, you'll see a new menu item added to the grey bar above labeled "Bill of Materials"; click that to begin adding components.

5. Search and add to the list any item SKUs that make up the kit/assembly, including the quantity for each.

6. Save your entry when complete to finalize the kit/assembly. You can return and change component items anytime and re-save if needed.
